Sunday Funday Farewell

Over the Pacific (blogging location) - Who doesn’t enjoy a good ol’ Sunday Funday?  I think most of you know April and I definitely do.  Add to that a Badger bball victory and Packer domination over the Falcons and a farewell party was born.  Our parents along with a few other family members and friends joined us at the Paoli Pub in luxurious Paoli, WI (don’t bother googling it…not sure it is on there yet).  We knew we were in for a good day when upon entry we realized they were doing meat paddles that day.  (A brief description of meat paddles for those not from small town WI: 12 numbered paddles are sold for $1 each and one winner is chosen who then walks over to a pool table covered with an assortment of meats ranging from ham and brats to steaks and chicken…yes it is as exciting as it sounds!)
Having never been to this particular pub before,  the 25 locals in the middle of their meat paddle drawings gave us a few not so friendly looks…we even had a moment wondering if we may need to move Sunday Funday to a new location.  Eventually we mustered up the courage to order a drink and soon after that buy a paddle.  $3 dollars out of Joni’s pocket later (thank you Bones!) we were not only in the drawing but had April’s lucky #4, Joni’s lucky #8, and my t-ball #1.  As luck would have it #1 would be called and a room full of already not so friendly faces suddenly could not be less pleased that the out-of-towner was about to take home some of their delicious Sante Fe chicken (see picture).  $6 worth of paddles later (thanks again Bones!) I was the winner again this time taking home a beautiful box of sirloin steaks!  We were thrilled…I can’t say the same for the crowd.

At this point we had to call in the rest of the gang to take the pressure off.  Our parents and other family and friends eased the tension and eventually helped us make friends with many of the people.  Just another example of the power of a Sunday Funday!
We want to thank our friends and family for all the support in helping make this trip possible, especially our parents!  We received many emails from people who will be following our trip and we are very excited to be able to share it with you all.  Please feel free to leave comments on the blog (see comment link at the bottom of each new post).
Our next post will explain how our travel day went today…and what an adventure it was!  I would do it now but we only have 11.5 hours left on this flight so not sure we’ll have time J.  (Update: We're now at the Sydney airport.  Only one more flight left today!)
